Methodology
ComixGuru’s art program leverages the inquiry-based and adaptive learning strategies with differentiated instruction to facilitate critical and inventive thinking and achieve intentional, focused outcomes in each lesson.
ComixGuru’s core philosophy is based on these 3 pillars: Go-easy, Go-engage and Go-experience.
- Go-easy: Keep it fun and super simple to understand
- Go-engage: Make learning relatable and exciting
- Go-experience: Explore, discover and create with an outcome in mind
We use learning management systems(LMS) to engage students in self-paced learning where possible and empower them with learning resources (playbook) so that they can take charge of their learning progress to complement the limits of classroom teaching. Students are encouraged to ask questions and embrace the beginner’s mind when executing a technique and be open-minded when solving problems.
Rediscover Cartooning (AEP0621332)
Rediscover Cartooning is a series of engaging, hands-on art workshops designed to allow learners to explore the creative process of cartooning, from developing cartoon characters and creating comics to drawing caricatures of well-known Singapore personalities and figures.
The programme comprises a range of modules, with each module aiming to achieve measurable learning outcomes. Schools can select the modules (Cartoon Creation, Comic Strip or Caricature) that best suit their students’ interests, learning objectives, and needs. The modular format also allows schools to combine different topics to create a customised cartooning experience.
Our teaching approach is simple, accessible, relatable, and adaptable to learners of different abilities and experience levels. Through guided demonstrations and practical exercises, learners are encouraged to apply the skills they acquire immediately. This enables them to experience tangible progress within a relatively short period and build confidence in their creative abilities.
Each workshop is designed around a minimum three-hour learning experience, which may be conducted as a single intensive session or extended across multiple sessions, depending on the school’s requirements and programme objectives.
The key focus of these mini-workshops is to give learners a taste of the art and experience of being a cartoonist. Through Singapore-inspired themes and locally relevant content, students are encouraged to explore questions such as: What is it like to think and create like a cartoonist? How can everyday Singaporean experiences be transformed into characters, comics, and visual stories?
Ultimately, Rediscover Cartooning aims to make cartooning approachable and enjoyable while encouraging learners to observe their surroundings, express their ideas creatively, and discover the possibilities of visual storytelling.
Rediscover Cartoon Creation (AEP0621331)
Rediscover Cartoon Creation is a structured art programme designed to equip learners with the essential skills to create engaging cartoon and manga characters through our proprietary learning model.
At the heart of our teaching approach is “the one skill set that makes a difference”—a fundamental skill that can significantly enhance a learner’s ability to create distinctive and expressive cartoon or manga characters. The skill is designed to be simple to understand and apply, relatable to learners’ own experiences, and adaptable across different levels of ability.
Rather than focusing solely on technical perfection, the programme emphasises an accessible and practical approach that enables learners to experience success early in their learning journey. Within just a few sessions, learners can begin creating their own cartoon or manga characters with greater confidence and understanding.
With continued practice, the skills acquired through the programme provide a strong foundation for learners to further develop their drawing abilities, creativity, and personal style. Rediscover Cartoon Creation ultimately aims to show learners that drawing can be both achievable and enjoyable, while giving them a practical skill they can continue to build upon.
This 5-hour long course is aimed at learners who have a character in mind or are inspired to create a Cartoon/Manga style character. The lesson can be customised and the duration is adjusted based on the school requirement.
Learning Outcome: Students shall be able to create a distinctive Cartoon / Manga character with a unique style.

Through imaginative themes and playful activities, learners are encouraged to explore their creativity, develop their own ideas, and interpret their artwork in unique and expressive ways.
The workshop introduces learners to basic cartoon drawing techniques and the creative use of oil pastels and/or coloured pencils. Through guided demonstrations and hands-on activities, students will explore how simple shapes, lines, colours, and imaginative ideas can be transformed into expressive cartoon artwork.

This five-hour workshop is suitable for beginners and learners with some experience in drawing, particularly those who enjoy observational or imaginative drawing, pencil shading, or colour work. The duration can be customised to suit the school’s needs.
Through guided demonstrations and hands-on practice, learners will revisit the fundamentals of drawing while exploring:

- Colour blending techniques using coloured pencils
By the end of the workshop, learners will complete an A4 self-portrait in monochrome or colour, supported by a series of practice sketches in their sketchbooks.

Rediscover Watercolour Zen (AEP0620974)
Rediscover Watercolour Zen is a mindful watercolour programme inspired by the minimalist principles of Zen art. Learners explore how to paint with simplicity, intention, and confidence—allowing the natural flow of water and pigment to become part of the creative process.
Rather than focusing solely on technical perfection, the programme encourages learners to slow down, connect with their breathing, and let go of expectations. Through deliberate yet gentle brushstrokes, learners discover how watercolour can become a form of self-expression, mindfulness, and personal reflection.
The six-hour programme, which includes videos for self-paced learning, is suitable for beginners as well as those with prior watercolour experience who wish to explore a more intuitive and expressive approach. The duration can be customised to suit the school’s needs.
Learners will explore:
- The mindset and principles of minimalist Zen art
- Connecting intention, breath, and creative expression
- Composition and painting with a limited palette
- Wet-on-wet and wet-on-dry techniques
- Flat, graded, and variegated washes
- Soft and crisp edges to create form and realism
- Creating mood and atmosphere through colour
By the end of the programme, learners will complete an A4 watercolour painting suitable for display.
Rediscover Watercolour Zen offers more than an introduction to watercolour techniques. It encourages learners to slow down, trust their instincts, and discover how a painting can reflect their inner state, individuality, and well-being.
